How to Join or Run a StarMaker Family
A family is the difference between singing into an empty room and singing to people who show up every week. Whether you're joining one or starting one, the same things decide whether it grows.
Finding a family worth joining
- Sit in their room for a few nights before applying — activity is easy to fake in a description.
- Look for a posted schedule, not just "we're live sometimes".
- Check that new members get mic time, rather than the same three people hosting.
- Ask how they handle conflict. Every active family eventually has some.
Families vs. verified agencies
A family is a community group. An agency is a formal program that can be tied to payouts and targets. They are not the same thing, and only officially verified agencies can process earnings. If a group asks for your login, a payment "deposit", or wants payouts routed through a personal account, walk away — that's not how it works.
Running your own room
- Pick two fixed nights a week and never miss them — predictability beats frequency.
- Give the room a theme (decades, duets, rap night) so people know what to prepare.
- Rotate hosts so the room survives when you're offline.
- Post the schedule where people already look, including the SMTV events calendar.
- Welcome every new name out loud. It's the single cheapest retention tool there is.
Grow beyond your own room
Cross-promotion is how families get big. Duet with singers from other families, enter community competitions, and list your events publicly. You can submit your event to the SMTV community calendar for free, and competitions like SMTV Celebrity Deathmatch put your members in front of an audience that has never heard them.
